We're All Spin-Doctors

OK, so my research for a literature review I am currently writing on cognitive dissonance has only confirmed my suspicions that we're all spin doctors. This is because we don't like dissonance. Dissonance is what occurs when our beliefs clash with evidence we're presented. In order to reduce the anxiety dissonance causes we will dismiss, rationalize, and altogether avoid information that conflicts with our beliefs and preconceived notions. We do this so that we can more easily tailor the messages we send and receive to keep them in harmony with our views and beliefs.

It occurs in everyone, ranging from the chain smoker who refuses to believe that smoking causes cancer, to the religious zealot who is always right. Everyone, everywhere does it on a daily basis. No one is exempt, well, except for me of course.

Keep it real,

Ben

For the love of all humanity, PLEASE update your blog or else a revolt will likely ensue! By not being diligent in your blog updates you are chancing a mass exodus of all the losers that have come to appreciate your blogging skills. And take note, once we leave, we won't be back. --- I fully expect there will be some "amens" to that.
